Stress and Anger Management

Old session from 2009 re: anger management

MEntity:

It is Good Work that you realize this is a matter of personal management, and not a matter of blame.

In the moment of your outburst, you are experiencing an Emotional Center/Moving Part event, because that is how you learned to process helplessness and anger, which translates into physical outbursts as a means to process emotions that do not make immediate sense to you.

Experiences of helplessness are experiences that you seek to manage regularly, and for the most part, you stay on top of this so that your confidence can continue to build, but when that management falters, it seems your method of rejection of those feelings is through the outbursts. It burns off the energy fast and completely, though it is more accurate to say that it is transformed into feelings that are more manageable, such as shame or guilt. Eventually the Intellect is brought in as a means to balance.

One way to manage these outbursts is to make sense of the feelings before you have them, instead of after or during. By this we mean that you would acknowledge that you are sensitive about disappointing others, and yourself, and feeling helpless in general. Rather than being so surprised by your experiences of helplessness, disappointment, falling short, etc., allow yourself the liberty of knowing these things happen sometimes, and that it is only a process of experience and growth, not an indication of some kind of conclusion about you.

The more immediate means of redirecting your energy outbursts would be through the simple act of Choice. In those moments, simply DO NOT make physical contact in a form of destruction. Your initial reaction was provoked by a feeling of helplessness, which would usually be played out in your helplessness against your own emotional and physical outburst, but if you use your power of Choice to direct those reactions, you are training your body and heart to better adapt to the experience. This would then slow down time on that level to a point where sense could be made of the feelings, and not consume you.
