RUSSIA AS AN OLD SOUL COUNTRY

Posted Feb 11, 2026

Based on the repeated reactions from students about Russia being an "old soul country" as the average dominant soul age is 1st Level Old, I decided to ask Michael for some elaboration on this to help us understand how this is possible. Michael has said that the country is Mature/Old with pockets of Young and Baby souls in power.

MY QUESTION TO MICHAEL: Russia has been channeled as primarily 1st Level Old and mostly Mature/Old, with pockets of Young Souls running the country and oppressing the people. Some students are shocked that it's an old soul country. How can it be best explained that Russia may have a high population of older souls even as it exists under a communist and oppressive regime?

FROM MICHAEL:

First, we will say that there is a fundamental misunderstanding among students if they equate Soul Age with kindness, democracy, liberalism, or enlightened governance.

Soul Age does not describe morality or ethics.
Soul Age does not describe political systems.
Soul Age describes the center of gravity of consciousness development within an individual or a population.

An Old Soul country does not mean an evolved government. It means that the majority of fragments incarnating there are exploring late cycle themes, regardless of whether those themes unfold under freedom or oppression.

Russia has long been a land of profound existential depth, artistic intensity, philosophical endurance, and spiritual exploration. These are Mature and Old Soul qualities. Those qualities do not prevent oppression, but they often evolve because of it.

Throughout history, fragments incarnate into environments that provide the friction necessary for their growth. A high Mature and early Old Soul population may choose to incarnate under Young Soul power structures precisely because it forces internal development rather than external conquest.

Russia as a culture has consistently produced introspective literature, moral philosophy, spiritual mysticism, psychological depth, and a long history of enduring suffering with reflection rather than conquest as the primary identity. This is Mature and Old Soul territory.

However, governments are not statistical averages of the population. Governments are concentrations of power. Power often attracts Young Soul fragments because Young Souls are motivated by ambition, dominance, conquest, legacy, and external control. Young Soul paradigms are particularly drawn to centralized authority.

So it is quite reasonable and valid that there can be a Mature and early Old Soul population governed by Young Soul leadership within structures designed during prior Young Soul cycles because these are separate layers of reality.

Communism as implemented in the twentieth century was not an Old Soul paradigm. It was a Young Soul ideological attempt to impose equality through control rather than through internal evolution. Its failure is not proof of lack of spiritual maturity in the population, but rather a mismatch between ideological enforcement and consciousness development.

We will also clarify that First Level Old is not Seventh Level Old.

First Level Old is transitional. It carries exhaustion from the Mature cycle. It seeks relief from intensity. It often withdraws from overt power struggles. It is reflective, but not yet unrestricted in wisdom. All of this is easily overshadowed by louder Young Soul forces.

In early Old populations you will often see high artistic and intellectual refinement, deep skepticism of authority, cynicism born from long historical memory, emotional fatigue, private spiritual exploration, and a very low appetite for collective revolution. This can appear as passivity from the outside, but it is actually internalization.

Old Souls do not require democratic governments to evolve. They require experience. Sometimes oppression accelerates compassion. Sometimes censorship accelerates internal clarity. Sometimes survival under power teaches far more than comfort under freedom.

This is not an endorsement of oppression. We are simply explaining developmental mechanics.

You may also consider that Russia’s landmass has historically been a karmic convergence zone between Europe and Asia, between conquest and survival, between mysticism and brutality. Such intersections attract fragments working through Mature to Old integrations of power, suffering, and identity. It is quite beautiful to us.

The shock expressed from students over Russia "being old soul" often comes from the assumption that “Old Soul” equals progressive Western liberalism. We caution that this is a projection.

Old Soul development is inward. Young Soul development is outward, and governments are outward structures. Soul Age is inward orientation. These do not always align.

To put all of this another way: a country’s Soul Age reflects the interior consciousness of its population. A government reflects who seeks and consolidates power. Young Souls are more motivated to pursue and hold power. Older Souls are more motivated to withdraw from it. Therefore, a Mature and early Old Soul population can absolutely live under a Young Soul regime.

The reality of evolution is that it happens in layers.
