MEntity:

April marks a shift from the emphasis on Acceptance into the emphasis on the Mode of Power. The Warrior Role remains the backdrop for the year, combining with the Intellectual Center in ways that continue to fuel intensifying exchanges of information and a broad range of strategies from among individuals and among organized groups.

The world is at a point where facts and clarity are rapidly diminished, and the ongoing decline of democracy in the United States contributes to a globally collective sense of fear. People are watching with great alarm as authoritarian structures widen their reach. Despite this intensifying and seemingly dark direction, April's shift of emphasis to Power Mode can help many to find a new sense of purpose and authority in their choices and actions.

The Mode describes how one connects with another and with the world around them. It describes how one RELATES. Power Mode describes someone who seeks to relate by being truly present. Power equals Presence, authentic presence. When this Mode is in the positive pole, Authority, it presents as someone truly present and responsible for their influence, leadership or guidance, for themselves or others. When it is in the negative pole, Oppression, it can manifest as a distanced domination, manipulative force, or inner denial and conflict about what is "right" and what is harmful.

This Mode comes into focus after three months that were shaped by the polarities of Acceptance. Many fragments have been practicing Acceptance over the past many months.

For those who practice Acceptance in the Negative Pole, it is done through Ingratiation. Ingratiation is a form of false acceptance. It is not about true acceptance, but about avoiding or protecting from rejection. Ingratiation is the process by which one seeks to keep oneself or another in favor with an individual or group or to avoid feeling rejected, even if it means supporting or defending harmful dynamics or stances. Ingratiation asks one to dismiss, excuse and even defend harmful behavior and even to blame victims or marginalized groups in order to uphold a push for false acceptance and false inclusion.

With the combination of Overleaves for 2025, many who have fallen into Ingratiation will likely have aligned themselves definitively on terms that are related to their own relationship to POWER.

When Acceptance is in its Positive Pole of Agape, individuals, communities, and countries shift away from “appearing to accept everything” or defending harmful behaviors as a way to feel like one is being accepting, to genuinely including reality as a basis for true Acceptance. By “reality” here we mean that one includes facts, consequences, accountability, responsibility, and truth. When one must ignore or diminish or distract from the reality of truth, accountability, consequences, etc. as a means to accept, this is Ingratiation, a false form of acceptance.

True Acceptance fosters an environment that supports growth, truth, and empathy for oneself and others. Such authenticity does not allow harm to be ignored or excused or to continue. Instead, it encourages compassionate but firm boundaries that protect and respect the well-being of everyone involved.

A clear sense of truth underpins True Acceptance. Those who embrace Agape are willing to confront uncomfortable realities rather than preserve false harmony. They name harmful behaviors, hold themselves and others accountable, and maintain consistency between intentions and actions. This opens the door to real resolution, rather than a superficial peace that hides, excuses, or denies damage.

In this year’s Overleaves, True Acceptance would lead to True Power, or an authentic Authority that is based in being present, clear, and truthful. Meaningful parameters and boundaries are upheld with genuine concern for each individual’s place in the collective, community, country, or planet. Rather than stepping into Oppression, the Negative Pole of POWER MODE, individuals in a Positive Pole of Power would use their Authority to guide correction and bring change with fairness and clarity, even if this includes rejections.

These Positive Poles of Agape and Authority support an integrated dynamic of inclusion and boundaries, ensuring that even while encompassing a wide range of differences, the line is drawn firmly where harm begins.

As our students move into this new emphasis on POWER Mode for the year, it may be helpful to consider how True Acceptance vs False Acceptance, and True Power vs False Power may show up in different contexts.

On an individual level, True Acceptance and True Power can be seen in someone who sets firm personal boundaries and holds themselves and others accountable for mistakes. Rather than using flattery or denial to keep the peace, they would acknowledge harm, guide themselves and others toward responsibility, and remain present in their authority over their boundaries. This fosters deeper trust in personal relationships.

Communities that uphold True Acceptance and True Power move away from vague, feel-good statements of unity that includes “everyone” to having explicit guidelines that protect the community’s shared well-being. Communities fostering True Acceptance and Power would welcome diverse viewpoints but without tolerating abuses or violations. These communities become more resilient by confronting and actively working to publicly or discreetly correct harm to the community, rather than letting them go unchallenged for the sake of appearances, for the sake of falsely feeling good, or simply to avoid rejection.

On a global scale, True Acceptance and True Power are evident when leaders and organizations act with transparent agendas and inclusive policies that are meaningful and effective. Harmful regimes rely on intimidation, misinformation or manipulation for their use of Power. These regimes relate to their population through Oppression, the Negative Pole of POWER, and will tend to focus on enforcing false acceptance of those who cause harm, and usually a specific demographic that is benefited by and often part of the cause of harm.

In each of these scenarios above, the difference between false acceptance and true acceptance hinges on a willingness to honor truth, accountability, and empathy. False acceptance relies on flattery, denial, or appeasement to maintain a fragile and often harmful false peace, whereas true acceptance acknowledges reality, which includes uncomfortable or painful aspects, and actively fosters solutions that promote well-being for all.

When acceptance pairs with true power rather than false power, it transforms from passive harmony into a constructive force for real change.

True power shows up as Presence and Authority, grounded in integrity, honesty, and responsible leadership. False power appears as denial or manipulation that distances itself from accountability and depends on ignoring reality for control. It could be said that true power keeps everyone present and accountable, whereas false power pushes to remove or overlook one’s presence as separate from the consequences of actions and choices.

In the months ahead, those who try to maintain oppressive control and build on enforced acceptance of those who cause harm are likely to assert themselves even more heavily at this time. Power Mode in the Negative Pole can lead to reactionary and distancing behaviors in those whose relationship with Power is unhealthy.

One of the most destructive expressions of Power can come when those with a false sense of power begin denying the reality of those who have been harmed and begin to distance themselves further and further from the people, from friends, from oneself, from the truth, and from the responsibility of consequences and accountability.

The clash between progressive ideals and authoritarian oppression will likely continue and we may see greater displays of control and crackdowns on freedoms. However, this clash can also inspire a deeper resolve for constructive change as many of our students are reaching their own turning point away from passively or actively "accepting" people and forces that cause harm, violate boundaries, and deny reality. Many of our students and many other older souls are ready to take a stand, be a voice, and make the choices that create true power and acceptance.

As the Warrior Role continues through the year, many of our students may remain in a heightened state of motivation but also of stress. The impulse to defend and protect meaningful and beneficial values can manifest as divides, as protests, uprisings, or intense ideological battles. When combined with the Intellectual Center, the mind is truly the battlefield where truth and reality collide with disinformation and denial. Only truth and reality can actually prevail.

This month, it may be clearer than ever that words and ideas can carry the same weight as physical interventions. We suggest that our students engage in meaningful discussions with family, friends, and online spaces where the confusion and collision between true and false power and acceptance may be seen.

DATES OF INTEREST (approximate)

April 7 – ENERGY SHIFT – FORTIFIED INTENT
Near this date, we see a collective shift that encourages increased fortitude. People may feel a sense of renewed determination to take practical steps. Many may choose to reinforce alliances with others who share similar values. Some may experience a wave of clarity about their priorities and their next steps.

April 22 – NEXUS – CONVERGENCE
Around this time, there appears to be a merging of timelines shaped by parallel efforts to safeguard democracy and civil liberties. Those who stand for truth or equality are likely to pool resources or combine movements that become broadly empowered and powerful. This convergence could bring a sense of progress or momentum, even if overshadowed by lingering threats.

HELPFUL THOUGHTS OVER APRIL

  1. I/WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO CLAIM MY/OUR SPACE
Power in its healthy expression emphasizes self-respect and the nurturing of one's voice. Whether you speak up in a small circle or on a global scale, you have the right to claim and protect your safe space.
  2. CHANNEL ANGER/DEPRESSION INTO ACTION
If you feel anger or depression due to oppressive forces and their betrayal, remember that anger and depression need not be destructive. They can be symptoms that indicate a need for effective action. Anger and even depression can channel into activism, creative solutions, problem solving, or forging alliances. We suggest that you not allow others to fool or convince you into thinking your anger, despair, or depression are failures or destructive. Anger and its variations such as depression and despair can become a tremendous and authentic force for your own empowerment and your ability to help others.
  3. SEEK BALANCE OF MIND AND BODY
With the Intellectual Center amplified by the ongoing Warrior energies facing so many challenges, there can be a tendency to live in a state of relentless mental focus. Regularly ground yourself through physical care, shared laughter, movement, or time in nature. This will help you maintain calm and resilience.
  4. PRESENCE vs DISTANCE
Power becomes distorted when it is treated as a way to exert control over others. Power is often misunderstood and feared by those who may not have had a healthy relationship with Power. We remind you that True Power is about remaining present in your personal authority as it is grounded in accountability, responsibility and empathy. False Power shows up as discomfort, denial, or diminishing of boundaries that are important to yourself or others and results in distancing yourself from self and others as a means to uphold and defend this false power. As you refine your own sense of power over the months ahead, it may be helpful to remember that True Power comes by being present and relating on terms that are rooted in the present without denying or distancing oneself from reality or responsibility for boundaries.

April will likely feel as if the world is rapidly moving toward a crossroads, bracing for deeper and more destructive divides or bursting forth with surprising and empowering unifications.

Power Mode brings both the forces of control and forces of liberation into great intensification. Older souls who remain mindful of personal presence and embodying without apology one’s higher ideals can help transform April's challenges into something that may feel like a tangible shift.

This month is about recognizing that genuine authority and authentic acceptance expand the presence and love of self, community, country, or planet. The emphasis on Power Mode may help remind everyone that action matters, words matter, and your chosen stance in the coming months will help shape the collective trajectory in profound ways.
